Stereotypes that can Stop PPL from Dating Outside Their Culture: The EBONY Edition

11 Dec

stereotypes2

For those who missed out last week, we began our controversial discussion on stereotypes that may prevent us from dating outside our culture. After reminding the audience that this topic wasn’t for the overly sensitive, we touched on ethnic groups like Asians (Indian and Arabic included), Latin/Spanish/Hispanic, and Caucasian. This conversation needed the whole show.

When our time came to an end, we all agreed that it will take another whole show just to explore the stereotypes of racial-profilingthe black woman and man. Let’s be honest, out of all ethnicity those of African descent may face the most judgment. Don’t expect this show to be merely on African American women and men. We are approaching stereotypes of pure Africans, West Indians, Jamaican, and other islanders of African heritage. It should be interested. So if you are eager to tune in today from 6-8pm,  go to wrnu.info to listen LIVE! Be on air to join the conversation at 973 353 5746.

If you wanna catch up with the discussion, tune into last week’s show by following this link: http://www.mediafire.com/?7dk7twbbi5h78kg

Back at the ranch, Rochelle and Antonio meet for lunch. In the midst of getting hot and heavy, Evelyn catches them in the act. Rochelle confronts her mother about her control issues and introduces the “New Rochelle” who plans to buy Valerie’s boutique.

In the meantime, on her date with Jason the gynecologist, April gets a compliment on her “cookie” (vagina). He then offers to order food for her that would make her delicate part taste sweeter.

Since business is over , Sean recommends that they give it another shot. When Kisha says no, he gives her a kiss to confuse her even more.

As Rochelle finally gets to relive her first time with Antonio, Jason comes to April’s place unannounced with a kegal massager as a gift. This proves Jason’s obsession with the cookie and triggers April to break it off with him.

During the conclusion , Rochelle partners up with rapper and fashion designer Eve and buys Valerie’s store. The gang makes a toast to taking risk and being in control of their own destinies. In closing, another disaster unfolds with Malcolm still supporting his ex wife, Ashley, with large sums of money.

Today on “The Love Hour” from 6-8pm: “Can Attractive Men and Women have a Platonic Friendship?”

27 Mar

When men and women come together is it simply with the intention to procreate?  In older times it was customary for the woman to be in the household while the man goes to work. This made it less likely for both sexes to actually interact as friends.  There was this certain gender segregation.

Even TV and movies depict cross-sex friendships as impossible.  It all started with the 20 something year old movie, “When Harry Met Sally,” which made the notion that men and women could never be friends because deep down sex is always in the man’s membrane.  Then you have the TV shows where you can predict from the pilot that the leading scarlet will ultimately share a kiss or a night of passion with the steamy heart-throb male co-star.  Even Samantha in an episode of Sex and the City said, “Men are for fucking and woman are for friendships.”

I’ll be the first to admit that there is a certain degree of attraction between a man and a woman that is natural and undeniable, even if the relationship is platonic.  There is always some type of characteristics that urges a person to be around the other.

Most of the guy friends I have had has attempted to have some kind of romantic involvement with me.  They actual used the friendship as a way to get closer.  I’m sure I’m not the only one who has been through this.  Then I have guys who have remained my friends who have admitted to me that they thought about having sex with almost every female friend they have, including me.

Besides sexual attraction, there are more challenges men and women could face when attempting to have a cross-sex friendship.  Though it may be tricky, this type of friendship experts say is beneficial and necessary to have in today’s fast changing culture.  They have uncovered some basic truths about the cross-sex friendship. These truths and challenges will be discussed along with the danger of a cross-sex friendship when a person is in a relationship.

Additionally, as usual, we will be analyzing the sexy zodiac signs and ending with the “Thought of the Day.”

TODAY ON “THE LOVE HOUR” from 6-8pm: “IS IT OKAY TO DATE A FRIEND’S EX or YOUR EX’s FRIEND???”

21 Feb

We as people share a lot of things with our friends.  We borrow clothes from one another, loan each other money, and may even share a stick of chap.  However, one thing that is off-limits is an ex or former flame.  It is like a spoken rule known as “Bros before Hoes.”

So why is this?  Why is this a rule we must abide by?  First off, dating a friend’s ex/old flame or ex’s friend may appear super disrespectful.  As if you have no regard.  Questions may come to the surface.  Your friend or ex may wonder the following:
– Was my friend and/or ex  harboring feelings for one another when I was dating my ex?
– Does the reason behind the breakup between me and my ex even matter to my so-called friend?

The issue of loyalty definitely comes to the forefront.

From first hand experience, this can be a guilty and awkward situation that may not be worth the risk.  I was always reluctant when my ex’s friends wanted to get with me because I wouldn’t want to come between a bromance or life long friendship.  On the reverse side of things, I wouldn’t want to ruin a friendship with a girlfriend because her ex and I were attracted to one another.  Like the saying goes, there are plenty fish in the sea.

However, when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes you just can’t help yourself.  If you can’t help the way you feel and it can actually mean finding true love, should you make and exception to the code?

Today on “The Love Hour” from 6-8pm this will be discussed in depth.  To tune in, go to wrnu.info and click “Listen Live.”  Be on air @ 973 353 5746.  Additionally, there is a link to listen via smart phone.

Along with the topic of the day we will have celebrity buzz and facts about your zodiac sign (something new).
